Safeguarding

Safeguarding Team

The Governors and staff of The Green Infant School take seriously their responsibility to promote the safeguarding and welfare of all children entrusted to our care.

If you are worried about a child please come and speak to Miss Smith (Designated Safeguarding Lead), Miss O'Brien or Miss Richards (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads), you can call us on 01773 811465 or email safeguarding@green.derbyshire.sch.uk

The Green Infant School fully recognises its responsibilities for Child Protection and Safeguarding.

Safeguarding arrangements at The Green Infant School are underpinned by three key principles:

  • Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility: all Staff, Governors and Volunteers should play their full part in keeping children safe.
  • The Green Infant School operates a child-centred approach: a clear understanding of the needs, wishes, views and voices of children.
  • All Staff, Governors and Volunteers have a clear understanding regarding abuse and neglect in all forms; including how to identify, respond and report. This also includes knowledge in the process for allegations against professionals. Staff, Governors and Volunteers should feel confident that they can report all matters of safeguarding children in the School where the information will be dealt with swiftly and securely, following the correct procedures with the safety and wellbeing of the children in mind at all times.

We have adopted a software package called MyConcern to support our safeguarding arrangements. The requirements of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, our own policies and the safeguarding training provided by us or on our behalf will always remain the definitive source of safeguarding guidance for users of MyConcern. Any questions about the use of MyConcern should be directed to our Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Child Protection and Pupil Welfare

Our child protection programme supports each child's development in ways which foster security and confidence and independence. The school has a duty of care and the right to take reasonable action to ensure the welfare and safety of its pupils. If a member of staff has cause to be concerned that a child may be subject to ill treatment, neglect or any other form of abuse, the school will follow child protection procedures and inform social services of its concern.

Parent feedback

The Green Infant School welcomes comments on the services it provides to pupils and parents. Feedback enables us to clarify any misunderstandings that arise, and gives us the opportunity to review our procedures if necessary. We are also pleased to learn of the things that have gone well.

We believe the support and the confidence of parents to be essential to the students' welfare and we are happily to see you any issue. If the matter is really urgent a senior member of staff will normally see you as soon as possible. If you would like to make an appointment to see a specific member of staff, an appointment can usually be arranged at short notice.
