PE and Sport Premium
At The Green we believe PE & Sport plays an important role in children’s physical and social development.
We welcomed the Government’s announcement in March 2013 to provide additional funding of £150 million per annum to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools- The Primary PE & Sports Premium. The funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in school.
We are committed to using this resource in developing high quality PE lessons, alongside greater opportunities for sporting competitions and clubs for all of the children at our school.
On 30th April 2019 the Association for Physical Education received confirmation from the Department for Education confirming that the primary PE and Sport Premium will continue, at the doubled rate (320 million) for 2019-2020.
Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.
‘Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this’ (DfE June 2013).
