Music Education
Our Curriculum Principles
At The Green, our curriculum principles are the driving force behind the way we teach and the way we aspire for our children to learn. Our principles were designed by our staff and were chosen based on an excellent understanding of our community, our families and most importantly our children.
Why is musical education important?
We believe that excellent musical education opens many opportunities and gives our children 'an opportunity to express themselves, explore their creativity, to work hard at something, persevere and shine', (The Power of Music to Change Lives, 2022). We believe that feeling successful across a broad and balanced curriculum breeds confidence in self expression and translates into other areas of our children's development.
What does music education look like at The Green?
- A comprehensive music curriculum that builds on our children's knowledge of songs, genres, instruments and key musical terms
- 30 minute music lessons each week, for each child delving into difference genres of music and self expression.
- Singing Assembly each week, for each child with a focus on celebrating our current enquiry and our school values.
- Choir Club each week offered to all children to learn new songs, make new friends and perform for peers.
